Pab The Kid is not of this world. At only 20 years old, he already has an unusual background. He is a Frenchman, a Ch'ti from elsewhere, who grew up in China, India, Germany, and who was still studying in Madrid last year. When we call him to talk about his first album, he tells us that he is currently staying with his friend James the Prophet, while waiting to find a new apartment. The two friends found each other. Since their beginnings, they help, push and inspire each other. James opens on Mos Def's hexagonal tour and proposes to Pab the Kid to be on it. Here is a friendship in titanium. "Mos Def? He's my favorite rapper of my favorite rappers, I'm living a dream here!" says Pab The Kid. The two have one thing in common: the ability to rap in the language of Shakespeare with a disconcerting ease. The first faithful followers are now an army. And so the time for a real first album has come. In a first album, it is known, an artist puts all his life, all that preceded the recording, in a conscious way or not. It is a crucial stage. It's a proper depucellation. And it is called " Party Never Ends ", 9 tracks on prods by Benjamin Molinaro, Lennard Vink, with guests Colonel Reyel or Pascal Légitimus. The party never ends. This record, it sings especially love. It sings of fragility and pleasure, of formal and inner beauty, of nocturnal drifts and sentimental comings and goings. Pab The Kid comes from rap but it's only half the truth in fact. Like many guys of his generation, he comes from everywhere and nowhere. He doesn't have to be embarrassed with labels, limits. Here, trap codes, ego-trip but also singing, vocoded or not, ambiences that destabilize before federating, a whole universe that sets in motion, far from postures and clichés. One could believe that Pab The Kid is an Englishman who masters the French language to perfection. He has travelled so much since his childhood that his words are polyglot. They pass from one language to the other naturally and one understands then better his facilities behind a microphone. Pab The Kid wants to last, to settle, to be. In music and why not, later, in cinema. Go figure... Pab The Kid is not of this world. And the world, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Tokyo, Marcq-en-Baroeul or Paris, holds out its arms to him.
